Course Description

Duration: 1 Day What you’ll learn? The aim of this training program is to equip delegates requiring training, as well as HSE professionals, with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively perform the duties of a Fire Watch. The program is designed to reduce or eliminate the likelihood of fires during hot work operations by providing comprehensive education on various related topics. These include understanding the different types of hot work such as welding, cutting, brazing, buffing, and grinding, along with the requirements and importance of obtaining a hot work permit. Participants will gain knowledge on the actions to take if a fire occurs during such operations and will be trained in the correct use of portable firefighting equipment. The course also covers the chemistry of fire, general fire precautions, classes of fires, types of fire extinguishers, and their appropriate uses. Additionally, it emphasizes the significance of the Fire Watch role in ensuring safety during hot work, while addressing international legal requirements, the theory of combustion, methods of fire spread and extinction, and emergency response procedures. Learners will also understand the responsibilities of both employers and Fire Watch personnel, ensuring a well-rounded approach to fire prevention and response in hot work environments.
